2 FLASHBACK: PARKING DAY 2008

Today is National Park(ing) Day.  According to the website, Park(ing) Day is, "an annual, worldwide event that invites citizens everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good." We see it as a way of bringing attention to the creation of vibrant public spaces in cities. Public space is essential within any city and, if planned appropriately, it can create communities, make people feel safe and provide a great place to hang out.

We aren't participating in Park(ing) Day today, so we are posting some old pics from our first Park(ing) Day- way back in 2008. Our parking space was located in Downtown Kansas City and was done as part of our 5th year design studio in architecture school. Happy Park(ing) Day!
